The Horrible god
The Drifting Snow, set in the midwest during the 1920's, a visit to the family matriarch reveals a tale of a haunting and mysterious deaths. They are lead to discover the snow vampires and what they mean to the past and present.
The Idyll With Hands of Clay, is the story of a young doctor who may face the ultimate in tragedy when he finds that he cannot control his own terrible pride as he breaks one of the foremost rules of medical ethics and decides to operate on his own adoring wife; set in Victorian England and originally authored by the royal surgeon Sir Frederick Treves, the discoverer and benefactor of The Elephant Man.
A Vampire in Venice, unfolds in the drawing room of the British consulat in Alexandria, Egypt, as a story is being recounted about an incident in Venice involving a poet and a mysterious woman who lures the unwitting to their doom.
The Horrible god, the classic story from which the collection gets it's title, follows a Mr. Rainwater, who is the obsessed collector or all things macabre, when he obtains one more piece for his sinister collection. Haunting threats of death and inexplicable events serve to send our unwilling hero over the edge as he desperately tries to escape his stalkers in the fog shrouded London of 1935.
